# What does a small business website *actually* cost?

Quotes for the same five-page site can land $400 apart or $4,000 apart. Here is our actual formula, published, plus what really drives the number and which of your decisions moves it most.

The short answer

Our base is **$100, which includes your first 3 pages**, then **$75 per additional page**. Deploying it live is a flat **$300, and that includes any three essentials**: contact form, Google Maps, social links, analytics, or basic SEO tags. So a **3-page site, live, with three tools connected, is $400**. Page count is the smallest driver of the total. Integrations beyond the first three and customization depth move it far more.

Search this question and you'll get "$500 to $10,000," which is true and useless. The spread isn't because designers price randomly. It's because "a website" describes three genuinely different amounts of work, and most quotes never say which one you're buying.

So here's ours, published. Most firms won't put a number on a page because it takes away the room to read what you can afford. We publish the bookkeeping formulas for the same reason, and the website one works the same way: you should be able to price your own project before you ever talk to us, and then check our quote against it.

## Three tiers, and who each is for

| Tier | What you get | Best for | Typical range |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Essentials | Finished source files. You or your developer deploy them. | You already have hosting and someone technical. | $100 - $625 |
| Growth | Deployed live, domain connected, three essentials wired up and tested. | Most small businesses. You want it working, not handed over. | $400 - $1,450 |
| Signature | Everything above, plus page-by-page design built around your brand. | The site is your main sales channel and has to look like nobody else's. | $1,050 - $3,700 |

Ranges assume 3 to 10 pages, which covers most small business sites. Integrations beyond the three included, and customization, sit on top. Every quote is itemized in writing before any work starts.

## What actually drives the number

1. **Customization depth**
The biggest lever, and the one nobody asks about. Adapting a proven layout to your content is quick. Redrawing each page so it carries your brand specifically is hours per page. Both produce a real site. Only one of them costs four figures.
2. **Integrations**
Your first three are included with deployment, which covers what most sites need: a contact form, a map, analytics. Past that, booking, payments, a CRM connection, a blog, or a member portal each add real work, because each has to be connected to a live account and tested with real submissions. Two of those can outweigh five extra pages.
3. **Whether it gets deployed for you**
Handing over files and putting a site live are different jobs. Deployment means the domain, DNS, SSL, form routing, and a real end-to-end test on the live URL. It is the single clearest line between tiers.
4. **Page count**
Last, deliberately. Pages scale predictably and are the easiest thing to quote, which is why so many quotes lead with them. A five-page site with booking and payments costs more than a twelve-page brochure site.
5. **Whether your content exists yet**
The quiet one. If copy, photos, and service descriptions are written, the build moves. If they are not, someone has to write them, and that someone is either you at your desk or the designer at your expense.

## How to get a smaller quote without a worse site

**Bring your content.** Written service descriptions, real photos, and the questions customers actually ask. This moves the number more than any other single thing you control.

**Cut pages you cannot maintain.** A five-page site you keep current beats a twelve-page site with three pages nobody has read since launch. Every page is a page that can go stale.

**Stage the integrations.** Launch with the form. Add booking in month three, once you know people are actually asking to book. Integrations bought in advance of demand are the most common line item to regret.

**Be honest about the design bar.** If a clean, fast, credible site does the job, say so and buy that. Signature tier exists for businesses whose site has to out-argue a competitor, not as a default upgrade.

## What the build price does not include

A domain is roughly $15 to $20 a year and stays in your name. Hosting for a fast static site is frequently free. Any paid tool you connect, a booking platform or an email service, keeps its own subscription, also in your name. You should own every account associated with your business, always, including with us.

SEO and AI search optimization is a separate service rather than a bundled promise. A well-built site is technically sound out of the gate, but making it rank and making it quotable by AI assistants is ongoing work, and it is quoted on its own so you can see what you are paying for.

## Website pricing FAQ

### If the formula is published, why is there still a range?

Because the base is the only part that is purely countable. $100 plus $75 a page after the third gives you Essentials exactly, and deployment is a flat $300 that already includes any three of the essentials: contact form, Google Maps, social links, analytics, or basic SEO tags. What varies is what you need past those three. A fourth simple one is $50. A booking system or online payments is $200. Nobody can tell you which of those you need until we know what the site has to do, so the formula stays fixed and the extras are itemized, rather than one averaged number that quietly overcharges the simple projects.

### How long does a build take?

Two to five weeks for most small business sites, and the variable is almost never the building. It's how fast content and feedback come back. Projects with copy ready at kickoff finish at the short end of that.

### Do I own the site?

Yes, at every tier, including the source files. The domain, hosting, and any connected tools are registered in your name. If you ever want to move to another provider, you can, and nothing here is built to make that painful.

### Can you fix the site I already have?

Often, and it's worth asking before paying for a rebuild. If the structure is sound and the problem is copy, speed, or trust signals, a targeted pass costs a fraction of a new build. If it's a page builder held together by twelve plugins, rebuilding is usually cheaper than repairing.
